To The Comic Book Store #46

In and out, that's become a standard part of the run these past couple of weeks, which is quite sad because I miss the conversations and the flat out B.S.

Oh well I still came away with some pretty good comics.

Terra Nova, Will It Last?

Caught the premiere of FOX's new show Terra Nova last night, and thought this is good, but it won't last.

For those that haven't seen it or don't know what it is, Terra Nova is about mankind having to go back in time, into a different time stream altogether actually, because they have used up the Earth's resources and caused a significant amount of damage in the process.

This journey back in time leads them to the period Dinosaurs still roamed the Earth; a simple summery for Terra Nova, is a typical Sci-Fi future story meets Jurassic Park.

Now why do I question if the show will last? Well that's simple too; Budget. It costs a lot of money to produce a Sci-Fi show, and even greater costs are added for the CGI, which there was and will continue to be a lot of. Seriously, it's not like they can go out and film a dinosaur.

On any other network, Terra Nova may stand a chance to go a couple of seasons, but on FOX, it's pretty much doomed. Don't think so? Well let me remind you all of this little show called Firefly. Yeah, ever heard of it?

Of course since I kinda did like this show, if I decide to give up on Terra Nova now, it'll probably be around for quite a while just to prove me wrong.

On the other hand, do you find Terra Nova worth keeping?

A Terrible Night Of Sleep

Just wanted to share my night of sleep or lack there of, and if there are any dream interpreters out there maybe you could shed some light on the whole thing.

To start off with, I went to bed at about 12:14AM; I'd had nothing but water since 7PM and no food whatsoever after 6PM, so it's safe to say the following was not sugar or caffeine induced.

I'm also not sure at this point which parts I dreamt and which I were awake for.

To start I know I was dreaming this first part. I was in my house, it was dark and I was trying to go back into my bedroom, but there was just so much pressure on the door I couldn't get back open. Of course at this point I realize that someone is actually on the other side pushing it back in. I can't tell who the person is, fore all I see is a shadow. I step back three steps and go rushing into the door shoulder first and manage to burst it open.

As the door burst open, so did my eyes. My head filled with air and I felt like it was about to explode. I clutch my ears and know I let out a blood curdling scream as I rolled off of the bed. I remember sitting on the floor, back against the wall, heart pounding on my chest cavity demanding to be released so it could run away.

Everything was hazy, and I my eyes darted around the room looking for the person lurking in the shadows, but there was no one there. I struggled back into bed and immediately fell into another dream. Or another portion of the same dream, I'm not sure if I actually woke up when I burst through the door, or if my dream just shifted perspective.

Next I found myself on stage dancing, not something I would ever do. I remember seeing everyone rushing off stage going out and pulling audience members out of the crowd and on stage. Even my dad was there all excited grabbing a guy and shoving him towards the stage. I remember backing up to the stage where my girlfriend came on with the group for the next performance and she ended up hitting me in the right eye with a cane.

This again woke me. I think. I just know I laid perfectly still, watching the room sway back and forth, feeling like someone was standing over me the whole time. After what felt like 10 minutes I drifted out again.

This portion I don't remember dreaming in, but I know I woke later drenched in sweat, so I got up and turned on the overhead fan. I laid back down and spent sometime just staring again at the ceiling. If it wasn't for the fan still running this morning, I would have thought I dreamt getting up and doing that too.

I drifted off and went dreamless the rest of the night. Or more to the point of I can't remember what if I did or not.

Throughout all of this I did check the clock every time I woke up. And this is another factor of why I can't tell if I was dreaming or not.

Remember I went to bed at 12:14AM. At first incident the clock was 1:19AM. Next time it was 2:38AM. But when I got back in bed after turning on the fan, the clock read 12:36AM. I quickly verified this by grabbing my cell phone, and it too read 12:36AM. WTF?!?!?

I'll I know is at this point I fell asleep and didn't wake again until the 5AM alarm.

So how did yawl's night go?

To The Comic Book Store #45

A pretty quick run to the comic book store this week. Seriously I was there for under an hour; this hasn't happened in like six months.

No discussions this week, the few people that were near the free comics seemed like they didn't want to be bothered by anyone, so I just stayed quite. Which kinda sucked, I wanted to ask about the Star Wars Blu-Rays and what everyone thought, or about this week's DC releases for the new 52.

Speaking of the new 52, I flipped through the new Batman and after purchasing Batman Detective Comics last week, I thought the artwork to be kinda childish, and the story didn't look like it could hold my attention. So, Batman #1, was a pass.

And now without further ado, here is what I did come away with this week...

Star Wars: Choices of One - Book Review (Squidoo Lens)

Check out my book review for Star Wars - Choices of One by Timothy Zahn

Secret Star Wars Rift?

Following a post over on the theForcebook.com by Kaidin_Moonwood talking about the similarities between the new Star Wars: The Old Republic video game and the original six films (Read the post here), made me realize that it appears there is a rift amongst those working on Star Wars video games and The Clone Wars cartoon.

Back in 2008, LucasArts released The Force Unleashed (TFU); about two weeks prior to it's release was The Clone Wars (TCW) movie.

I was unable to locate the video online, but during an interview with Morgan Webb of G4, one of TFU's developers explained how he and many of the developers were a little miffed about how TCW team stole their unique fighting style for Starkiller and gave it to a newly created character whom was no more than a padawan (Ahsoka Tano).

You could sense the anger as he explained this back handed lightsaber style had taken them months to develop, how it was going to be unique to their title, and that it was just taken away from them, no permission asked, no phone call made, just stolen.

Now here we are in 2011, and this time it appears that TCW is being ripped off. However, it's not LucasArts, but Bio-Ware and their upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic (TOR).

This unnamed TOR character seems to look, fight, and hold the same occupation as TCW favorite, Cad Bane.

Could be that I'm just reading too much into this, and this is no more than mere coincidence. On the other hand, may be those that worked on TFU finally decided to exact some revenge and steal the concepts of TCW; an eye for an eye as the saying goes.

What do you guys think, is there trouble in paradise, or is this just me looking too deep into this?

Clone Wars Season 4 Expectations

Tonight (9/16/11) on Cartoon Network season four of Star Wars: The Clone Wars premiers.

Now for those that follow me here, or over on Tumblr.com know that I've been very hesitant in regards to the Clone Wars cartoon. For me there were just too many things that I had read or seen from trailers/previews that turned me off. But since joining theForcebook.com I realized that I wanted to be part of all the Clone Wars conversations and felt that I couldn't really be a true critic without having seen the actual show.

So I have managed to catch up on the first three seasons, and though there were still some hit and miss issues (and a serious problem with chronological order, nothing new for Star Wars these days), the show turned out to be pretty good.

Now however I have high expectations for season four and here they are...
  • Episodes must appear in chronological order and advance the timeline! Be more season one and two by moving forward, not like season three and just fill in holes from the previous seasons.
  • A popular character should meet their fate. Of course this won't be Ahsoka or Rex (though I could go with it being either of those two), this should be more along the lines of Cad Bane or Hondo.
  • DELTA SQUAD! This doesn't need an explanation.
  • More episodes without main Jedi appearances. So far some of the best episodes are those that Jedi like Anakin or Kenobi barely even appear in.
  • Pull back on the droid humor. The battle droids need to be more like those in The Phantom Menace, DROIDS!
  • More action and less love would also be nice, but I don't expect this to happen. More likely we can expect more love shown between Anakin and Padma.
  • We Know that Death Watch appears at some point but I hope to see a lot of episodes with their involvement, not just one or two.
  • More bounty hunter action. One can never go wrong with more air time for Boba Fett or Cad Bane. Heck a young Dengar perhaps?
Well there they are, my expectations for season four of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Now who wants to place money on how many of these will actually happen?

From Batman to Star Wars; WildCATS to Uncanny X-Force; this week is chalk full of great comics (and some not so great comics, but those came out of the grab bag I bought).

There is an aweful lot to check out this week so I'll just shut up and let you all have at it. Enjoy.

Everything from this point forward was purchased off of my $50 gift certificate that I received from my mother for my 26th birthday.

Best $7 Spent

So apparently my Wal-Mart ended up over ordering this Halo Series 4 Jorge action figure, and to alleviate themselves of them they decided to place them on clearance at $7.

So of course being an action figure addict, I couldn't reset. But I feel good about this purchase; usually this figure runs anywhere from $10.99 to $14.99, so $7 is a very good deal in my opinion.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Star Wars Room Lights

Found these the other day online and thought, geez I want these for my rooms.

Of course I really only want one in particular; care to wager a guess?

To The Comic Book Store #43

Didn't spend a lot of time doing additional shopping after grabbing my free comics this week. Kinda on a tight schedule do to a family emergency earlier this week.

So this week all I have to present are the following free comics.
