On July 16th, we said goodbye to SyFy's Eureka; although we weren't really able to stay completely up to date on Eureka, from what we've seen, it was a show that we could easily place into our top 20.
Eureka provided us with good sci-fi, lots of humor, and some unforgettable guest stars (like Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton). Colin Ferguson nailed this role, and we can't wait to see his return to TV.
Have a favorite Eureka moment, quote, episode? Let us know!
Caught the premiere of FOX's new show Terra Nova last night, and thought this is good, but it won't last.
For those that haven't seen it or don't know what it is, Terra Nova is about mankind having to go back in time, into a different time stream altogether actually, because they have used up the Earth's resources and caused a significant amount of damage in the process.
This journey back in time leads them to the period Dinosaurs still roamed the Earth; a simple summery for Terra Nova, is a typical Sci-Fi future story meets Jurassic Park.
Now why do I question if the show will last? Well that's simple too; Budget. It costs a lot of money to produce a Sci-Fi show, and even greater costs are added for the CGI, which there was and will continue to be a lot of. Seriously, it's not like they can go out and film a dinosaur.
On any other network, Terra Nova may stand a chance to go a couple of seasons, but on FOX, it's pretty much doomed. Don't think so? Well let me remind you all of this little show called Firefly. Yeah, ever heard of it?
Of course since I kinda did like this show, if I decide to give up on Terra Nova now, it'll probably be around for quite a while just to prove me wrong.
On the other hand, do you find Terra Nova worth keeping?
Wow, this movie was bad, I mean really really bad. Okay, I'll be fair, in 1979, this might have been an awesome movie.
The outfit appears to be a nothing more than a blue muscle suit, a motorcycle helmet with these weird wings painted on and a blue tinted visor, and a shield that was less than par.
Do you see the shield; it's red, blue, and clear. Clear? Really?
Oh and the even better part, there's a scene where Captain America starts running down some stairs but then decides to do that cheesy sliding down the rail thing, yeah it was bad.
In 1979 this movie may have been awesome; in 2011, well not so much.
As a Star Wars fan though I have to admit I was a tad bit giddy when I realized that the Villain, Miguel, was played by none other than Christopher Lee (Count Dooku).
Has anyone seen and liked the TV movie Captain America II?
After ten years Smallville has finally come to an end.
Now I must admit I didn't watch most of Smallville's run; three episodes into the first season I said nuts with this, but gave it another shot during it's season seven run and was hooked.
As far as the finale goes though, it went as expected (which was not all good).
Next we have the fact that there was just way to much that needed to be wrapped up into this 2 hour finale. We needed to see what Lionel Luthor was up to, in what capacity Lex would show up in, when would Clark fly and get his suit, and the outcome of all the objectives Darkseid had set out to accomplish.
Now all of these were covered but for a two hour event, this was just way too much. Another two hours might have been helpful.
Over the last few episodes the show had been bringing in different characters / actors from throughout the last nine seasons, for their one final hoo-raa. Even Aaron Ashmore who played Jimmy Olsen made an appearance in the final moments of the finale (apparently playing a younger brother to Jimmy Olsen).
In the end, it was still a very impressive episode, everything wrapped up, favorites making one more run at glory, and an ending that allows for these characters to show up again somewhere in another DC tv show (Raven perhaps?).
So for a simple conclusion, if you have the chance to catch the season finale of Smallville...DO! And Smallville, you will be missed.
Virtuality is FOX's new Sci-Fi drama that's a TV show within a TV show. The best way to describe it is MTV's Real World meets outer space.
Just look at the crew and compare them to a Real World cast. There is an interracial couple, a gay couple, a couple in a solid relationship that now faces the challenge of one member cheating, and two semi hot chicks that have a love/hate relationship.
There is also the video confessionals, which was the Real World's trademark.
Now there were a couple of moments where potential was shown. Okay so really just the beginning and end, with maybe one or two moments in the middle.
The only member of the crew that was tolerable throughout the entire show was Capt. Frank Pike, and he unfortunately didn't survive. Well at least not in reality.
The worst part was FOX's cheap plug of their network throughout the entire episode. It actually got quite annoying.
Being a Sci-Fi series on FOX, we don't count on Virtuality being around very long. Hopefully we can get a little more of the story before the inevitable happens. - GJ
After the "success" of four straight to DVD movies, Comedy Central has renewed the show by ordering twenty-six (26) episodes.
There are doubts about this being a successful move, but if the writers go back to their original style, and leave the Family Guy poop jokes alone (unlike the movies), everything should be OK. If not well at least we got something. - GJ
Eight seasons, several sexy heroines and countless villains later, what more could Smallville offer viewers to keep them coming back. Well we have some suggestions.
1. A Darker Story Arc
The last time we saw Clark Kent he showed us that he has become angry with himself, and maybe ready to finally admit that not everyone contains good or caring qualities and he may in fact have to sacrifice one in order to save hundreds.
2. Darkseid
The conclusion of season eight ended with the arrival of a mysterious figure, our hopes is this figure will be revealed as the villain Darkseid. To learn more about Darkseid you can read his Wikipedia page.
3. The Caped Crusader Himself - BATMAN
Do we really need to say more. This show will go at least nine seasons, and with the way the economy is there is no guarantee for more, so why not give fans what they really want, the two biggest DC heros Batman and Superman together in one place.
We could honestly settle for Bruce Wayne simply making a business trip to Metropolis; maybe to discuss possibly purchasing Luthor Corp from Oliver. Just a suggestion.
Have a suggestion of what you'd like to see, well leave us a comment. - GJ
UPDATED 4/22/09 - YouTube deleted the original video source, so post has been resubmitted with a new video source.
The following video is the extended scene for the conversation amongst the Rebel Troopers aboard the Tantive IV while they wait for the upcoming battle. This clip was in the initial trailer seen at the Celebration event, then cut down for the TV airing and reinserted back to its original format for the DVD. Probably one of the best scenes because most Star Wars fans have also asked the same question, what would have happened if the Imperials had used another door?
With the fourth installment of the Terminator franchise, Salvation, yet to hit theaters (May 22, 2009) you wouldn't think Sony and Warner Brothers would already be discussing plans for a fifth, let alone sixth movie, but you'd be wrong.
In fact these entertainment giants have already green lighted the fifth film and even signed Christian Bale (John Connor) for all three films.
There's just one really big problem with a new set of films, and that is a little show currently running on FOX called The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Rumor has it that Salvation picks up after the events of the third film, Rise Of The Machines, but this ends up conflicting with The Sarah Connor Chronicles which takes place prior to Rise Of The Machines. See everything done in the past ultimately changes the future, so this little TV show, is going to complicate matters more than some may realize.
Another problem that will arise, is that when you go to the movies to see a Terminator flick, you expect to see the original terminator himself Arnold Schwarzenegger. There's a smaller budget when producing a TV series so people understand that the big name actor will end up being a no show.
Something else to consider for Christian Bale is that he may have to give up the role of Batman due to the filming schedules. Though after that last performance, that would be okay too.
There is always the possibility that these new movies will be a huge success, but we wouldn't want to bet our money on that. -GJ
So for those that haven't heard, or haven't been to scifi.com this week, FOX has announced that they will be beaming their new movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" into space on opening day, 12/12/08.
The transmission is set to be aimed towards Alpha Centauri. There's just one little problem with their aim; the time it takes to reach Alpha Centauri will actually put Alpha Centauri out of the transmissions range.
Everything in space is in constant motion, and since we're talking about FOX, we all know that they have not considered this.
And for those of you that are panicking that we are showing possible ways for an alien race to attack the Earth, take a deep breath, and remember, if they have the ability to space travel, they don't need our help in planning our destruction.
FOX can afford to beam a brand new movie into space, but claimed that it was just too expensive to produce an episode of FIREFLY, am I the only one who has a problem with this? - GJ
In the film industry there are two types of movies; the standard theater blockbuster and the straight to DVD or TV movie. It's the latter that we focus on here.
These straight to DVD or TV movies are normally referred to as 'B' movies. These are movies that were made on a low budget, usually with actors just beginning or ending their careers, and involve a theme or story that nine out of ten times is mediocre at best.
The Science Fiction genre makes a very good living on these types of movies. In fact three to four of these such films can be seen on the Sci-Fi channel on any given day. These movies have ranged from good to bad, to what where they smoking when this seemed like a good idea.
Here is a very tiny list of some of our most memorable 'B' movies.
Equilibrium - released shorty after The Matrix, Equilibrium was one of the better films to start using the same type of choreography.
Starship Troopers 3: Marauder - Did somebody say "Franchise Savior." Casper Van Dien returns with Paul Verhoeven to save a stumbling franchise. Read our full review HERE
Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation - Minus everyone from the original movie, add a decent storyline with some terrible acting and what we have here is a disappointment.
Recon 2022: The Mezzo Incident - remember this list is memorable movies, memorable does not mean good, or in this case, anywhere even close to decent. Full review available HERE

"IMPERIAL POST" has been renamed "THE GALAXY JUNKYARD"
This was actually the name that was chosen prior to the opening of the site, but due to staff conflicts the name was changed. Sad to say there is only one way to deal with this type of conflict. (The name was not what called for the change.)
On a positive note the concept and theme of this site will not change, in fact the only item that is set to change is the frequency of posts. However this may not occur until after the start of 2009.

The Science Fiction genre has offered us some of the greatest weaponry known to man and alien; everything from phasers to lightsabers, rail-guns to Death Stars.
But the time is now to choose your favorite. Any weapon of your choice; be it from a movie, TV show, anime, or video game, the choice is now yours.
Our Winner:
LANCER
Gears of War
Not only does this weapon offer us that big bad@$$ gun feel, but it’s got a chainsaw on the front of it that opens up a whole new gory world. Plain old melee attacks will just never be the same.
