Spider-Man: Far From Home (Teaser)

Sony Pictures Entertainment has dropped the first teaser trailer to the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home film and I can't be more stoked. This teaser has me pumped, but also filled with questions and theories.

First, I have to agree with a local radio DJ who was upset that Marvel let this trailer come out before the release of Avengers: Endgame. He stated that everyone knows that the heroes who blew away after the snap would return but it feels like it's being shoved in our faces with this trailer. I have a couple of possible counters to this...

One, maybe and it is possible with the amount of time that passes, but it is possible that this story actually does occur prior to the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Two, and this one is a stretch, but what if those that disappeared after the snap were sent to an alternate universe? Hence, Happy saying "You're on your own here". Of course this is a huge stretch, but I'd personally enjoy seeing this play out than it be being before the snap or the slap in the face for it occurring after.

Who else has a theory? Share below, I'd love to see them.

Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 5, 2019.

Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse (Official Trailer)

Sony Pictures Entertainment next installment into the Spider-Man franchise comes in the form of an animated film entitled, Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse.

The story is set to follow Miles Morales as Spider-Man, but will feature an older Peter Parker (a concept we are enthused to see), and include an appearance by Spider-Gwen as well.

Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse is set to open Christmas 2018.

To The Comic Book Store #117

Listening to a pair of young brothers discuss a variety of comic book characters today made the entire trip well worth the hassle of driving in a downpour and getting soaked walking across the parking lot. And here's just a few tidbits...

  • Brother 1: "Deadpool is just really awesome."
  • Brother 2: "which one is he?"
  • Brother 1: "he's the blind guy"
  • Brother 2: "no stupid the blind dude is Devil Dare" (pretty sure he meant Daredevil)
  • Brother 1: "oh that's right, then Deadpool is just Wolverine in a red suit"

That discussion was followed by...

  • Brother 2: "who the heck is that guy" (looking at a giant poster of Watchmen's Rorschach)
  • Brother 1: "you know man that's the guy from that movie we watched a couple of years ago"
  • Brother 2: "oh so he's a character from a movie"
  • Brother 1: "yep it sucked too"
  • Father: "you guys do know it was a graphic novel before a movie"
  • Brother 1: "yeah sure dad, they made a comic book for that crap" (rolls eyes)

Kids, you gotta love 'em.

And now for this week's comics!

Spider-Man Rebooted Too Early?

In 2002 Marvel Studios released their first Spider-Man movie starring Toby Macguire; now just ten years later Marvel is set to release The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield; the question to you is, was it too soon to reboot a successful franchise?

Now many of you are probably already arguing over our use of the word successful, but let's face it folks, three movies and millions of dollars later grants it the privilege of being called a success.

It's not like Marvel had gone through all of the Spider-Man villains or that Toby Macguire was too old (born in 1975) to play the part that a call for change was absolutely necessary. Granted each of the three Macguire films had their ups and downs but what movie doesn't?

We were kinda happy with the original franchise too; Peter was out of high school and college, he had established his career as a freelance photographer, and best of all ended up with Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). Now we have to once again endure Peter's suffering in high school, watch as he tries to discover how to use his abilities, and now have to suffer through his crush on Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) not Mary Jane.

Did the reboot cost Spider-Man a spot in the Avengers movie?

Five years ago when Marvel first dropped hints that they were creating an Avengers movie, the internet started to run rampant with rumors of who the Avengers would be; at the time Spider-Man was a prime candidate to fill almost everybody's fantasy Avengers team.

Of course in the Avenger comics Spider-Man is often the talkative, try to find humor in every situation guy, which probably would have been a little much in the Avengers movie since Iron Man had this down pact. On the other hand, since the all out rock'em sock'em Good vs Evil battle was in Manhattan, NY, we kinda expected at least a cameo from Andrew Garfield in his Spider-Man costume checking to see if he needed to help out or something. Guess it was too much to ask for.

What do you guys think? Too early? Not soon enough? Don't care? Hit us up in the comments below.

Spider-Man (2002) Trailer Feat. Twin Towers

In early 2001 this was the teaser trailer to the first Sam Rami Spiderman film; for obvious reasons, it was pulled from theaters in late 2001.

It's still a kick@$$ trailer though.

Thoughts?
