Secret Star Wars Rift?

Following a post over on the theForcebook.com by Kaidin_Moonwood talking about the similarities between the new Star Wars: The Old Republic video game and the original six films (Read the post here), made me realize that it appears there is a rift amongst those working on Star Wars video games and The Clone Wars cartoon.

Back in 2008, LucasArts released The Force Unleashed (TFU); about two weeks prior to it's release was The Clone Wars (TCW) movie.

I was unable to locate the video online, but during an interview with Morgan Webb of G4, one of TFU's developers explained how he and many of the developers were a little miffed about how TCW team stole their unique fighting style for Starkiller and gave it to a newly created character whom was no more than a padawan (Ahsoka Tano).

You could sense the anger as he explained this back handed lightsaber style had taken them months to develop, how it was going to be unique to their title, and that it was just taken away from them, no permission asked, no phone call made, just stolen.

Now here we are in 2011, and this time it appears that TCW is being ripped off. However, it's not LucasArts, but Bio-Ware and their upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic (TOR).

This unnamed TOR character seems to look, fight, and hold the same occupation as TCW favorite, Cad Bane.

Could be that I'm just reading too much into this, and this is no more than mere coincidence. On the other hand, may be those that worked on TFU finally decided to exact some revenge and steal the concepts of TCW; an eye for an eye as the saying goes.

What do you guys think, is there trouble in paradise, or is this just me looking too deep into this?

It's Just A Toy!!!

How much is too much?

The above image is for the Star Wars 30th Anniversary Darth Revan action figure; a figure that was gobbled up by collectors and is now only available for purchase through them, and if you want it it's going to cost you.

But why? It's just a toy we're talking about here folks. This figure doesn't do anything special; it doesn't walk or talk on it's own, it's not a treasure map, nor is it going to tell you the meaning of life. It's just simply a toy.

What made this toy popular? Well it's a figure of the main character that appeared in the popular Bio-Ware produced Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic video game. See not really special.

Honestly this is one figure that alludes our collection here at The Galaxy Junkyard, and we would love to have it, but there isn't a staff member here willing to pay $80, heck it would be hard to get us to pay more than $10.

Sadly you can see people do attempt to pay these prices, and we are all guilty of such acts, but folks we have to remember, it's just a toy. -GJ

Star Wars - The Old Republic #1 (Comic)

With the end of the Star Wars: Legacy comics upon us, Dark Horse Comics has once again taken us back to the Old Republic era with Star Wars: The Old Republic.
With events taking place three hundred years after Knights of the Old Republic, we get to once again see how the Jedi and Sith wage their galaxy wide war.
Since it's only a single issue into the series we can't really determine how much anyone is truly going to enjoy it; however, the first issue did leave us hoping that transition from one scenario to another will become a lot smoother.
There was a lot of jumping from place to place and if you get distracted for a second you may forget where exactly you are. Too many characters were introduced in this single issue, and other than learning that the Sith will be Sith and Jedi Padawans still need to learn patience, we didn't really get to know any of them.
But keeping in mind that this series is also based off the upcoming video game from Bio-Ware and even has some novels due out as well, we can only hope all these things will help round out the story of the Old Republic.
