DC's New52 - 6 Out, 6 In

Well the inevitable finally happened, DC has canceled six of the titles released during their September relaunch. Titles included are...

  • Blackhawks
  • Hawk and Dove
  • Men of War
  • Mister Terrific
  • O.M.A.C.
  • Static Shock

Each of these titles are slated to run until their 8th issues, which should be in April.

Fear not though, DC already has six new titles to replace them starting in May. New titles include...

  • World's Finest
  • Dial H
  • G.I. Combat
  • The Ravagers
  • Earth 2
  • Batman Incorporated

So what do you guys think? Are their titles being canceled that you're gonna be missing? Any new titles you looking forward too?

Live Action WildC.A.T.S Movie

Okay so this isn't something that's actually happening, but this is something I really would die to see; I grew up on the WildC.A.T.S cartoon and have quite an extensive collection of their comics, so I'm kinda a big fan.

This would also be a good opportunity to get another superhero team out there to compete with Marvel's X-Men or Avengers, and maybe even give DC a little bit of a push towards silver screen dominance (if done right that is).

It's not like the entire team is made up of unknowns either. Grifter just appeared in the Lois Lane Flashpoint series and now has a solo series that premiered with DC's New52 lineup, as does Voodoo.

In the past members Zealot, Spartan, and Warblade have also had their own individual series, so fans have had other opportunities to get to know these characters as well.

The only thing I ask is that WildC.A.T.S. creator Jim Lee gets final say in everything; script, actors/actresses, music, EVERYTHING. Jim Lee knows his creation, so it's only fair that he gets final say.

Now to find a way to make this happen...hmmm...

Anyone else out there like to see a live action WildC.A.T.S. film?

To The Comic Book Store #43

Didn't spend a lot of time doing additional shopping after grabbing my free comics this week. Kinda on a tight schedule do to a family emergency earlier this week.

So this week all I have to present are the following free comics.

To The Comic Book Store #41

Oh Wednesday, how I cherish you. A run to the comic book store followed by Taco Bell, I am in Heaven.

The only bad thing about tonight is that I was unable to pick up the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic because it literally flew off of the shelves; apparently a shock to all the employees, even the comic specialist. Oh well, there's always next week.

In the meantime check out what I scored this week...

Also purchased at a great price ($1.99) was the following WildC.A.T.S. action figure...

To The Comic Book Store #40

Ah the comic book store, how I've missed you.

Due to inclement weather people decided to stay home this week, so there weren't many people in the store; which means nothing exciting happened. Oh well.

There was however a guy who appeared to be very disappointed with himself because he only spent $323 instead of his normal $500 a week. How fair is life?

Anyways, here's what I picked up this week...

To The Comic Book Store #38

Where did all of my friends that come to the comic book store on Wednesday nights disappear too? I miss you guys; those that show up now are rude, arrogant, loud, and very inconsiderate.

I don't like this change, and I surely don't like these freakin people.

Please come back my friends, I miss you!

Anyways, all I managed to pickup this week were free comics, though there were a few new releases that I wanted, I decided I needed to save the cash this week instead.

Enjoy.

To The Comic Book Store #37

Best trip to the comic book store EVER!!!

Why you ask? Well that's simple, for the first time ever I was accompanied by the most gorgeous woman in the world, my girlfriend Erin.

It was a slow night however so we'll just skip ahead to the swag.

Where In The World Is Batman - Europa?

Back in early 2010 there was this big hoopla over a new 4 issue Batman mini-series entitled Europa.

Synopsis here from DC Universe: The Source...

In the pages of BATMAN: EUROPA, the impossible has happened – the Batman is on the brink of defeat, at the hands of a virus with no cure. Surely there’s someone that can help him? Well, there is – the Joker. Who infected Batman with the virus? What does the Joker have to do to save him? And how can it all happen before the Dark Knight collapses? Together, the unlikely teammates and arch-foes travel through Europe cobbling together clues while the clock ticks down.

Originally scheduled for release in January, it was then pushed back to February, then to March, July, and then completely off the DC schedule altogether.

It was starting to look like DC had pulled a fast one over us, but then there was hope...

After repeated requests via Twitter to Jim Lee (@jimlee00) he finally gave us a response. Now it's only the words "of course" but that's good enough for us.

So there is still hope in seeing Batman - Europa, and that's a good thing, because there is nothing better in life than having one of your favorite characters being done by one of your favorite artists (that'd be Jim Lee in case you're just joining in).

Now of course we don't expect to see Europa anytime soon, in fact we have a feeling we won't see this title until at least next January; in case you missed it, DC is doing this whole reboot thing in August, so they're a tad bit on the busy side at the moment.

Still exciting just to know that we will get to see Batman - Europa at some point.

Thoughts?

Why No Love For DC?

So the other day a buddy of mine asked "Why no love for DC? You post a lot of $h!t about Marvel and Dark Horse, so what the F*#& dude." (Yes this is the direct quote.)

To be completely honest here, I admit it, I really don't care for 95% of DC's characters.

If you look at my collection of DC comics, they are either outright Batman issues or issues that guest star the caped crusader. I also have about a fourth of the 52 Countdown series and not much else.

The only other thing with a DC tag that I can say I kinda enjoyed was the TV show "Smallville" which didn't get my interest until season 7.

"But with DC rebooting most of their lines it'll get you to like them better than Marvel right?"

Ummmm...sorry, no.

Great DC is going to reboot, big deal, they're rebooting characters that I don't like, which means I have to put up with them being advertised more than I care for. And besides this reboot may turn out to bite them in the butt, only time will tell though.

I do still have hope for DC though, but that's only because I know Jim Lee is now a Co-Publisher and I enjoy his work.

For the record I don't only like Marvel comics; I also greatly enjoy Dark Horse, Vertigo, Image, and many small Japanese companies (whom seem to produce some of the best stuff).

Of course this is all about personal preference; I like Marvel over DC, my buddy was the opposite, and those that take the time to read this post will have their own opinions, and that's ok.

But for curiosity's sake, which company does produce your favorite comics?

To The Comic Book Store #27

Ah Wednesday, you just can't come soon enough. This week however the run to the comic book store was quick and painless; not much going on, it was kinda quite which is very unusual.

But as usual we came away with some good stuff.
