Out of Business: Bandai Entertainment

It's been a good ride, but as of February 2012, Bandai Entertainment will cease production of new manga, DVDs, and Blu-Rays.

Bandai Entertainment is responsible for bringing us many different Gundam series, Code Geass, Gurren Lagann, and many others.

We wish all at Bandai Entertainment the best in their future endeavors.

Gundam Astray Red Frame Model

It has taken some time but I've finally completed one of my projects (See Will I Ever Catch Up?).

Not only did I actually finish building this Gundam model, but I painted in some of the details, gave it a weathered look, and then added some battle damage (bullet holes and saber slashes).

1st Look: Mobile Suit GundamAGE

This will be the next Gundam series from Bandai Entertainment, and from what we see here, hate to say it, but this may be to "kid friendly" for us.

On a positive note the graphics and character design resemble that of the original Mobile Suit Gundam, which means they haven't strayed away from what they set to do with the Gundam Franchise.

The negative side though is you can see that this series is very bright and colorful giving it an almost, dare we say, "cartoonish" feel. This is where we see "kid friendly" and lose interest.

But hey these are just first reactions to a 2:22 of footage, when we see more we may feel differently.

But in the meantime what did you think, is this something you're gearing up to see?

To The Comic Book Store #28

How did it get to be Wednesday already? Not that I'm complaining, I like Wednesday, it's free comic book day down at my local Coliseum of Comics, I just want to know where the time goes these days.

Anyways...here is what we picked up this week...

Will I Ever Catch Up?

Every week I post about my runs to the comic book store; a post that show cases the comics I've picked up for the week.

What you don't know is that I have been unable to get all of those comics read...

(So yeah, I'm only 46 behind at the moment.)

Sadly though this is not the only thing I'm behind on.

First there's my Warhammer 40K project...

Now this doesn't look like a lot but if you've ever done anything with Warhammer 40K you know these things can be time consuming; What's pictured here is probably at least another six months worth of work.

Then of course there's my Gundam Red Frame model...

(Man I haven't even taken off the shrink wrap to this one!)

I do have ideas for making this model look like its actually seen some action though; add scorch marks, highlights, and maybe some sand or grass to the feet.

There are also a score of other projects I'd love to be working on...

Live Action Anime

We as fans of science fiction are all guilty of watching and enjoying anime, and nobody should feel ashamed by that fact. In fact because anime has become so popular around the world many movie studios are starting to transform them to appear on the big screen.

But is this a good idea?

Our response is a yes and no. As fans of giant robots and anime involving said robots, we start to foam at the mouth just thinking about seeing are favorite titans on the big screen. But as visually spectacular as they can be the no comes into play when you stop and think about what kind of story you'll end up with.


Anime series for the most part run approximately 26 episodes, unless its a Gundam series which most run about 45-52 episodes, or Dragonball and Naruto both well over two hundred episodes and several animated movies. Our fear is that these stories would just not have enough substance that we are accustomed too.

Already released are the Gundam movie G-Savior (2000) and Death Note 1 and 2 (2008).

In the next few years however we will see several live action anime movies; the first being Dragonball, while another, Cowboy Bebop, has already begun production.

If either of these movies happen to be a success, you can guarantee more live action anime will be on the way to the big screen, and if that happens well we have a wish list.

• Gundam (Yes we want another one)

Unfortunately with a downed economy a lot of movies may not see the figures the studios expect, so there is always a chance that live action anime movies may get scratched altogether; only time will tell. - GJ

Getting Back Into The Swing Of Things

It's been a while, but I think I now have the motivation that I need to start posting again. Just spent some time at the big MegaCon Convention in Orlando, FL. and I'm excited to start posting again.

I've had a few personal matters to see to but now that they're out of the way, there will be no stopping me. Look for the first of many posts to come online in the next couple of days.

I'll keep on flying, will you?

The world of everything Gundam began over in Japan in 1979, but didn't make its debut in North America until 1998 with the run of Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network's Toonami. Since then countless other series in the Gundam universe have aired, including the original series Mobile Suit Gundam.


If you're going to call yourself a true science fiction fan, then this epic saga is a can't miss. Some of the series may seem a little childish at first but you must look into the underlying themes and concepts being portrayed.


Gundams are futuristic war machines. Each series portrays a different war, in a different century, with different Gundams and pilots. The only constant is the involvement of the Earth.
