Paramount Halts Production on Ninja Turtles

Paramount announced on June 15th, 2012 that production for Ninja Turtles, a reboot film to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, has halted production.

According to sources it seems that Paramount is telling everyone that the script is not up to par. Some sources are also claiming that it's also a financial issue and that Paramount has asked for a script rewrite to bring the film down in budget.

At the moment Ninja Turtles hasn't officially hit the chopping block, but Paramount has moved it's release date back to May 2014 from it's original December 2013 date.

With this rewrite there are a few things we'd like to see...

  • Remove the whole alien idea. Let them remain the Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Build off the films already released; this includes that 4th one which if you remember involved aliens.
  • Keep the villain Krang, but make sure he's a representation of an established Krang, not some stupid hey we're going to make this villain completely different because we can.
  • This one's very important, get rid of Michael Bay. Bay's films are great if you want hours of explosions and no real substance, but as a kid growing up on the turtles, we have higher hopes for this film.

Some time, some where there will be another Turtles movie, that's just a given. Will it be in 2014? Who knows. What we do know is that later this fall Nickelodeon has a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon premiering, and when it succeeds, Paramount will be thinking long and hard about lighting a fire under their butts and getting a move on for producing their movie.

Please lose the aliens. We all know their mutants and are OK with it.
