Beware The Batman Placed On Hiatus

Cartoon Network has announced that DC Comics' Beware The Batman has been placed on hiatus until January 2014. For fans of other DC shows like Green Lantern and Young Justice they know all to well what that means, Batman your time is done.

Beware The Batman will indeed air in January, but after it's remaining season's episodes air, the show will inevitably be done, cancelled like many other DC shows.

But the question now is why has this happened to Beware The Batman? It's Batman, how can fans not love this show enough for Cartoon Network to keep producing it? Well let's look at some of the reasons...

  • It's seems that it isn't always about numbers with Cartoon Network. Young Justice was one of the network's top rated shows and yet, was pulled an hour before air and placed on hiatus, which eventually lead to cancellation without any warning whatsoever.
  • Being that the show is entirely CGI may also have factored in, for it costs more money to produce each episode.
  • The show itself wasn't as exciting or grabbing as previous versions of Batman. The storyline was merely okay, the villains were lackluster at best.

The one bright side for Beware The Batman was the change in Alfred; not just being a mere butler but a butler with a military background and still having the physique to put that background to good use.

With yet another DC show biting the big one it's time to start pondering if the relationship between DC and Cartoon Network isn't beginning to show signs of deteriorating.

What do you guys think is it possible that Beware The Batman can be saved? Will you even miss this show once it's gone?

Beware The Batman (Trailer)

Always ready and willing to check out a new Batman series, but to be honest, I hate this type of animation; hence why I didn't really care for the recent Green Lantern cartoon.

Beware The Batman premieres July 13 at 10AM on the Cartoon Network.

Back-Story Rewrite: Kitster is Dengar

Yes, the famous Kitster from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace has an official back-story according to Wookieepedia, but that doesn't stop people from bugging The Clone Wars Animated Series producer Dave Filoni about where Kitster is, and it doesn't stop us from providing another alternative to his whereabouts.

Also we are aware that bounty hunter Dengar already appears in The Clone Wars in season 4, but our idea still works.

First let's go with Kitster being freed from slavery and leaving Tatooine to become a smuggler. While out on a run there is a terrible accident that leaves him broken and a little deranged; in his mind this is the day that Kitster dies, and his alter ego Dengar is born. He cheated death as a smuggler, so of course now he feels invincible as a Bounty Hunter.

See, and now Dave Filoni has a where Kitster story.

What, they changed Boba Fett's back-story so why not give this a try?!?

Cartoon Network's DC Nation

In 2012 Cartoon Network (CN) will be running a new hour block called DC Nation. The two primary shows at launch for the block will be Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series (both of which are currently running on CN).

Along with these shows the hour block will be filled with shorts. These shorts appear to range from a revived Teen Titans (though in Chibi form) to Lego: Batman, from Plastic Man to a possible live action Blue Beetle and many more.

Check out the promo below.

Hitting the scene in 2013 will be the highly anticipated replacement for Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Beware the Batman.

Hopefully in coming months we will find out more about DC Nation and it's lineup, and we'll keep you posted as we do.

But in the meantime, anyone want to share their first thoughts on DC Nation?

Wildstar - Debut Trailer

So apparently this is an upcoming video game that has no release date and only PC listed under platform, well as of right now.

Consensus around the web is that no matter if this does well as a game or not, this should definitely be made into a series. *Hint *Hint Cartoon Network

I have to agree, this looks like it could be a better show than game, and it far outshines half the crap that is already out there.

What do you guys think, want to see this as a show? Planning to pick up the game? Or could you simply careless?

If We Ever Get...

If we ever get a live action version of the hit cartoon series BATMAN BEYOND, who would you like to see play Terry McGinnis the future Batman?

In some cases when a cartoon is done the voice actor may have a similar appearance to the character that they voice; but not so much in this case. Don't get us wrong, Will Friedle did a great job voicing Terry McGinnis (and who didn't like him on Boy Meets World?), but he just doesn't look like Terry.

Sadly Terry McGinnis looks a little like Keanu Reeves and Reeves would have been a good cast for this role, but only if he was cast about twenty years ago.

So as we hold our breaths and wait patiently for DC to realize that this is the route they need to take with Batman, we ask you, who would you like to see play Terry McGinnis?

After Thought
If by chance this could happen soon, and again, holding our breaths, wouldn't you all like to see Adam West play an older Bruce Wayne?

Please Mr. Lucas, End The Clone Wars

For several years now Cartoon Network as been running the animated series "The Clone Wars" and though we don't normally watch, it has come to our attention that this series is destroying that which was already paved.

Episode II: Attack of the Clones did enough damage to the Star Wars storyline on its own (no we still haven't gotten over the Boba Fett being a clone thing).

On a positive note it appears that the series is about to show us what we were expecting when the Clone Wars began in Episode II; the Mandalorians. But from the images shown on StarWars.com there are some issues.

    1. The armor appears to be identical for just about everyone. That is not how it was supposed to be. Each Mando was responsible for there own armor, no two were ever the same. 2. Why the hell are they wearing jet packs??? It was bad enough that Jango Fett was introduced with one, but then we figured that we could let that go, let it show why Boba Fett decided on one. But this was not a Mando thing.

There have been complaints circling the Internet for a while about how much this cartoon has destroyed the original story and many feel that since so many novels were wrote on the Clone Wars these should have been used instead.

Oh yea and we are still very upset about Anakin having a padawan. Bad move there George.

Anyone else have a complaint about this series?

Or for that matter, does anyone have a reason to why this show should remain on air?

Family Guy - Blue Harvest - Extended Scene

UPDATED 4/22/09 - YouTube deleted the original video source, so post has been resubmitted with a new video source.

The following video is the extended scene for the conversation amongst the Rebel Troopers aboard the Tantive IV while they wait for the upcoming battle. This clip was in the initial trailer seen at the Celebration event, then cut down for the TV airing and reinserted back to its original format for the DVD. Probably one of the best scenes because most Star Wars fans have also asked the same question, what would have happened if the Imperials had used another door?

Superman or Batman

This is an argument that will never see a conclusion; Superman or Batman, who is the better superhero.

SUPERMAN - an alien sent to Earth during the destruction of his home planet Krypton. He has some of the most wanted powers; speed, strength, laser eyes, the ability to see through anything, and oh yea, the ability to fly. As great as he sounds, his weakness is a little green rock known as Kryptonite, which will bring him to his knees and make him very vulnerable.

When he's not being Superman, he's Clark Kent, reporter for the Daily Planet. Just your average dork, who is in love with fellow reporter Lois Lane, who ironically just happens to be madly in love with Superman.

BATMAN - a boy who had both parents murdered while he was still very young. Batman has no special powers, and all of his abilities have human limitations. What makes him great is that he has all of these gadgets and top of the line technology that no one can compete with.

Batman's real identity is Bruce Wayne; self made millionaire. He lives alone in Gotham city, with the exception of his butler Alfred and a side kick from time to time, in an enormous mansion, which has a secret lair underneath. Wayne is the Donald Trump of the comic book universe.

My Conclusion - Superman may have all the natural powers, but Batman has worked hard to move up the chain, and that to me makes him a better superhero.

But you most likely have your own opinion of this topic, so lets here them, leave your comments, because we look forward to hearing what you think.

GUNDAM

The world of everything Gundam began over in Japan in 1979, but didn't make its debut in North America until 1998 with the run of Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network's Toonami. Since then countless other series in the Gundam universe have aired, including the original series Mobile Suit Gundam.

If you're going to call yourself a true science fiction fan, then this epic saga is a can't miss. Some of the series may seem a little childish at first but you must look into the underlying themes and concepts being portrayed.

Gundams are futuristic war machines. Each series portrays a different war, in a different century, with different Gundams and pilots. The only constant is the involvement of the Earth.

For more information on everything Gundam please visit the official website at Gundam Official. There you can find plot summaries of the different series, character profiles, gundam schematics, and answers to your frequently asked questions.

Adultswim, STOP Complaining About The Anime

STOP, Stop right now. We are all tired of seeing the graphics that bad mouth the anime on your schedule. Maybe you want to try something different then, well here’s a thought, play some good anime.

Eureka 7, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Blue Gender to name a few were good anime to have been played. Maybe because they had either some sort of space or robot theme, these seemed to be the most enjoyable of your past schedule. Shows like Death Note (which is awesome), Trinity Blood, Samurai Champloo, and Fooly Cooly were good for things of change, but remember not everyone is into the vampires/demons (Blood+, InuYasha, Bleach) and series being rerun like six thousand times (Cowboy Bebop).

In my opinion maybe you should consider getting rid of all non-anime shows from your schedule. The only non-anime you’ve ever played that I liked is either going or has gone by the wayside anyways (Futurama, Sealab 2021, Mission Hill). Everything else is either poorly animated, or just absolutely disgusting, and in most cases both. Granted an episode of Family Guy once in a while is entertaining to watch but I could have lived happily if it was never picked up again.

So how about trying to find more space or giant robot themed anime to play, usually these are also a little bit more adult themed as well. I remember a couple years back Toonami did a Giant Robot week and they played three episode of a show called Martian Successor Nadesico, that was good, why not try that. There are also several Gundam series that have yet to make it to American airwaves so why not pick one of them?

You know what; why not try uncut, unedited Sailor Moon? Anything has to be better than Assy McGee, Saul Of The Mole Men, 12 oz. Mouse, The Boondocks, and Frisky Dingo.

So unless you make a better attempt at what’s on your schedule, quite displaying graphics about how bad your anime ratings are, because it’s no one’s fault but your own.

Codename: Kids Next Door

Though it is really nothing more than a children’s cartoon, as an adult I find it fascinating. It has good clean humor for the kids, but the creative imagination that is beyond most adults. Not to mention it has quality animation unlike most American made cartoons.

For those that have not seen the Kids Next Door (KND) you may want to make an attempt at seeing at least one episode, regardless of your age.

Here’s a very quick recap of the story. We follow a team of five kids somewhere around the age of ten in their quest to conquer adult suppression; be that from doing chores/homework to eating their vegetables.

So many people maybe wondering why I chose to blog about a children’s cartoon like KND. Well if you’d seen the show you would know. This cartoon is chalk full of science fiction goodness. There’s creative weaponry, vehicles, tree-houses and moon-base, the virtual reality machine that appeared in an episode, along with the incorporation of several big science fiction movies in the creation of episodes (the most dominant being Star Wars).

When you can make a snow day from school turn into the battle of Hoth in the Empire Strikes Back using school buses for AT-AT walkers, you have yourself something that many people will enjoy. Actually that entire episode was full of different Star Wars spoofs and is probably my personal favorite.

The conflict in this series is also not only between the kids and adults but teenagers as well. For most of the series it’s every organization for themselves, but there are times when the groups form short term treaties to put a stop to the opposition that may be gaining an advantage over the other two.

For a children’s cartoon, it’s very appealing to adults, just keep in mind, it’s a children’s cartoon and to gain access to doors and secret chambers the kids don’t use keys or passwords, but reach deep into their noses to pull out a booger or two.

Truly a must see, KND airs several different times a week on Cartoon Network.
