Florida's Governor An Alien?

Okay so the other day I was talking with a former coworker and she told me about this hand written sign she saw located on a telephone pole that simply read "Rick Scott is an alien."

For those of you that don't know who Rick Scott is well he's the Governor for the state of Florida.

She told me that she actually believes that this sign was correct and that he is an alien. Of course I asked her why and she said for two reasons.

  • 1. He just simply looks like an alien.
  • 2. He makes weird facial expressions at inappropriate times that just makes him look like he has no control over his face.

Of course I laughed, but then realized I'm a big fan of the Men In Black movies and fully think that space aliens live among us in that capacity, so maybe she is on to something here.

So is the state of Florida being run by an alien, or just some guy that doesn't know how to control his facial expressions? Better yet who else in the government do you feel has been replaced?

Super 8 (Movie Review)

Super 8 takes place in 1979 and follows a group of kids who set out to make a short film for the Super 8 film festival. While filming the kids witness a horrific train accident and now believe that whatever the train's cargo was is now the cause of mysterious events happening within their town.

The story was phenomenal, with a very good balance of action, drama, and suspense. The acting was superb, with a great standout performance from Elle Fanning.

Super 8 is not the typical big budget film that is out to impress you with it's visuals, it wasn't made that way, instead it set out to hook you with the story and simple visuals, nothing real flashy.

You will also want to stay and check out the short film that the kids have created while the credits run. It's actually pretty entertaining in itself.

If you heading out to the movies and don't know what to see, then I highly recommend Super 8.

Super 8 has a 112 minute run time and was directed by J.J. Abrams with executive producer Steven Spielberg.

What do you think of Super 8?

WTF Is That?!?

This was found while using our home bathroom. We know the picture is not of great quality and the glare from the tile didn't help any, but anyone out there want to guess what it is? Or what it appears to look like to them?

Will They Come???

With almost everyone writing a blog these days, a new trend of websites that offer readers a prompt or question to help get their creative juices flowing have emerged.

After visiting many of these, including the Blogger promoted Plinky.com, we have noticed that there is a common prompt / question on just about every site;

"Do you believe contact with aliens will be made in your lifetime?"

Interestingly enough the common answer to this question is an astounding no. So many people believe that we are completely alone in the universe and that those who believe in aliens are out of their minds or immature and need to grow up.

The following is not to offend but merely point out the fact to those of you who throw out Bible facts and arguments when discussing alien contact, just keep in mind that no one has actually proven any of that information either, but you still believe in it.

Here at the Galaxy Junkyard we of course believe in such things as aliens and have good faith that someday we may even have an opportunity to have contact with them. To be completely honest, the following examples are a couple of entertainment theories that we believe could actually be revealed to be true.

* Men In Black (MIB) - This scenario just makes the most sense to us. With the way people act and just seem to have no common sense about them, we could definitely believe these are aliens from another planet disguising themselves as humans. The whole movie in itself is just practical.

* South Park - This is a little less practical but one that should not be ruled out as a possibility. In the episode "Cancelled" (Season 7, Episode 1) the boys learn that are lives here on Earth are nothing more than a reality TV show for the rest of the Universe to enjoy. Every creature on Earth was collected from other planets across the Universe and left on Earth for the mere enjoyment of others.

Although everything here could be wrong and our opinions absurd, because in the end life could simply be revealed as the Matrix. - GJ

Remember This Video?

The following video is probably one of the best sci-fi music videos made, and the movie itself wasn't half bad either. Enjoy.

Money Waster

So for those that haven't heard, or haven't been to scifi.com this week, FOX has announced that they will be beaming their new movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" into space on opening day, 12/12/08.

The transmission is set to be aimed towards Alpha Centauri. There's just one little problem with their aim; the time it takes to reach Alpha Centauri will actually put Alpha Centauri out of the transmissions range.

Everything in space is in constant motion, and since we're talking about FOX, we all know that they have not considered this.

And for those of you that are panicking that we are showing possible ways for an alien race to attack the Earth, take a deep breath, and remember, if they have the ability to space travel, they don't need our help in planning our destruction.

Read Sci-Fi.com's article Here.

Editor's Note

FOX can afford to beam a brand new movie into space, but claimed that it was just too expensive to produce an episode of FIREFLY, am I the only one who has a problem with this? - GJ

Fringe - Reviewed

By now just about everyone has seen or heard something about the new FOX hit Fringe. Oh yea, we're calling it a hit here at the post.

A lot of people like to compare this show to the X-Files, and while that is a decent comparison, we ask that you keep an open mind and remember this is in no way an exact copy of the X-Files.

Yes there is the whole FBI, unexplained phenomenas similarities, but Fringe appears to be going a little bit more hard core science fiction. Fringe isn't just a show about alien abductions, and other creatures of the night, but offers concepts like reanimation, invisibility, and teleportation.

The biggest complaint circling the Internet about Fringe is that it's not scary enough. If you haven't actually seen the show then again keep in mind that this complaint is from those wanting this to be an exact copy of the X-Files.

As far as cast and characters, there weren't too many complaints. Some people were a little concerned about Joshua Jackson, which was a surprise to us, but most felt as the show progressed that this was a casting decision that could be lived with.

So for a final score we here at IMPERIAL POST give Fringe a 5 out of 5. Fringe airs on FOX on Tuesday Night at 9pm.

Reviewed: The Middleman

Corny, cheesy, and low budget, are just some of the words we'd use to describe the new ABC Family show "THE MIDDLEMAN." Yet for some reason we here at the post find ourselves hoping that this show catches on and remains on the air for some time to come.

The story for the Middleman is one right out of the pages of a comic book; in fact a comic produced by Viper. To keep it simple, the Middleman (Matt Keeslar) is out to protect the world from different exotics (aliens, robots, monsters, etc.), while Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) is just out to find her place in the world.

To really get a feel for this show, you have to watch it. We've only seen two episodes, one involving a mob killing gorilla and another involving a Chinese Warrior who is an Earth elemental, and we hear the next episode involves a gang of masked wrestlers. This doesn't sound or make your average show, but the stories have been attention grabbing and quite unique in their own rights.

If your looking for a sci-fi, fantasy, comedy, drama, and action show, then the Middleman is right up your alley. Next episode airs on Monday June 30 at 10pm.

Getting Back Into The Swing Of Things

It's been a while, but I think I now have the motivation that I need to start posting again. Just spent some time at the big MegaCon Convention in Orlando, FL. and I'm excited to start posting again.

I've had a few personal matters to see to but now that they're out of the way, there will be no stopping me. Look for the first of many posts to come online in the next couple of days.

I'll keep on flying, will you?

UFO Hunters

"I don't believe in UFOs" - Dennis Anderson, NY SPI from Sci-Fi Channels new show UFO Hunters. Understand that this show is to follow the folks at NY SPI, who are skeptics, as they look to find evidence to disprove UFO sightings and alien abductions, but for the scholar of the group to make that statement is just baffling.

A UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object. If a blimp flies over a playground of children who have never seen one, is that not a UFO to them?

It's practical to assume that ninety-five percent of the world's population who hear the word UFO, will receive the image of silver circular metallic shapes floating in the sky long before anything else comes to mind.

Thousands of people a year claim to see some sort of UFO in the sky, most assuming it to have been a starship, and for those thousands, there are hundreds out there to prove or disprove their claims. These hunters, researchers, or the average joe looking to find something unique in this crazy world of ours, all have their own theories, thoughts and opinions on the subject, and nobody is afraid to express themselves.

The most important thing to remember is that everyone should keep their eyes to the sky, because you never know what you'll find, anything is possible.

*Special Note*
There are currently two unique shows on television running under the name UFO Hunters. One on the Sci-Fi channel, the other on the History channel. Check your local listings for showings.

Deja Vu - Phenomenon or Artificial?

Deja vu is defined by Wikipedia.com as the experience of feeling that one has witnessed or experienced a new situation previously. According to formal studies deja vu has been experienced by over 70% of the world's population; I myself can think of more than one occasion were I have experienced deja vu.

Because deja vu is such a unique experience in the way that it occurs there is really no way that science can prove or disprove of its existence. Though scientists feel that hypnosis has taken them a few steps forward, we are still very far off from finding out the true cause of deja vu.

But what if I told you that deja vu may not be a natural phenomenon. What if it was actually an event that was manufactured by mankind or some other Alien life form. Now seriously, stay with me on this one. What if there is a machine that man or alien has placed into space, and mankind is allowed to live on Earth until the point where we completely destroy the planet, but this said machine actually turns back time to allow mankind to start over again. We of course would have no knowledge of the entire event taking place but what if after many rewinds certain images or events aren't fully erased from your memory and they seep into your dreams letting you see "future" events.

I know this maybe hard to swallow, but prove me wrong, if you can.
