Is This The Future Star Wars: Episode VII Stormtrooper?

Found this cool looking image over on Tatooine Blog, of what appears to be a concept piece of what a Republic or Rebel (take note of the symbol on his armor) stormtrooper would look like.

Of course since this appears while rumors swarm around the Internet about Episode VII, we can't help but to hope that this is what the future holds for the Stormtrooper for the upcoming films.

What do you think, would you like to see this as the new stormtrooper?

Also in case you decide to visit the Tatooine Blog, I've gone ahead and translated this particular post for you; the original is in Croatian.

"I reckon it will be probably be epVII Stormtrooper, because they are what most strikingly in the SW-in, particularly in the OT-in. One attempt at retro-clones, and generally attempt entire prequel trilogy-in every possible aspect I did not not like it. Account, also, that since the Galactic Empire destroyed (aside from the harrowing factions of his remains in the EU), 30 years after the Battle of Endor, you some soldiers will defend the New Republic. For this reason, I imagined this "Republican" Stormtroopers. Generally, the Republic restored to retain something of pragmatism Empire, where it might lead some to question the original ideals of the Republic. It would be too secular, should not rely on anything like the Jedi order (which probably will not be, except Luke, probably, with perhaps here and there some followers). I think this would be a good source of plot - New Republic that sinks to a new dictatorship. Luke would have watched this at the margins, and of course, all this trying to change."

Star Wars - The Old Republic #6 (Comic)

Well here we are finally at the final issue of Star Wars - The Old Republic #6 - Blood Of The Empire 3/3 and the final issue of the Old Republic in general (or at least for the time being).

No big surprise here but this issue is also filled with brief disappointing Jedi / Sith duels, the hope of finally seeing a more in depth story only to find out we're not going to get it, and an ending leaving us wanting more.

There are a few bright spots to this issue; okay really just one, and that's that once a Sith, always a Sith. Make sure you read the fine print when dealing with them or it may just cost a life or two.

Still overall if you're a fan of Star Wars, it's a brief series that does give us a glimpse of a long and forgotten time and those that lived it. So if you want a quick and decent read, then we do recommend picking up the Old Republic comics. -GJ

Star Wars - The Old Republic #4 (Comic)

Blood of the Empire - Part 1

Star Wars - The Old Republic #4 is the beginning of a new story arc focusing on the Sith. The story follows a rising young Sith named Teneb Kel and his servant Maggot.

After proving himself to the Dark Council Teneb Kel is assigned the task of locating the Emperor's former Apprentice, Exal Kressh, a traitor to the Sith.

With fewer major players this storyline is much easier to follow than the previous issues, does not contain a lot of jumping around from place to place or person to person, and looks as though it will mainly follow Kressh and Kel with a few interruptions here and there.

The battle sequences have also been more promising. Not as quick, fights actually last an entire page, not just three frames and someone ends up dead.

This arc may just keep the readers coming back for more, so stay tuned and don't forget to check out part 2 (issue #5), available November 3, 2010. -GJ

Star Wars - The Old Republic #2 (Comic)

SPOILER ALERT

Star Wars: The Old Republic Issue 2 like Issue 1 is still all over the place; bouncing from location to location, Jedi to Sith and back again. This just seems to complicate matters if you become distracted for a mere second. Hopefully by issue five things will have become a little bit more straight forward.

People/aliens seem to die far to quickly; Jedi, Sith, it doesn't matter. Duels amongst Sith and Jedi are to be epic but yet are no more than two frames and that's it. The Jedi Grand Master himself falls quickly to a bounty hunter, and that just shouldn't happen.

Speaking of Grand Masters, with the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance we have already learned the fate of Jedi Knight Satele Shan, which is that she will become the Grand Master of the Jedi in later years. This kind of takes away from the story when you know her outcome through this series, and if she appears in additional novels that will ruin even more.

Yes, events do take place prior to the movies and there are additional novels and comics for the time period up to 125 years after Return of the Jedi, so we do kind of know the outcome of the overall picture, but it just seems nice to have some mystery surrounding these event.

At this point one can hope that this will run opposite of the Knights of the Old Republic series which started out fantastic but came up short; may be an all over the place start will make for a strong finish. Only time will tell.

Star Wars - The Old Republic #1 (Comic)

With the end of the Star Wars: Legacy comics upon us, Dark Horse Comics has once again taken us back to the Old Republic era with Star Wars: The Old Republic.
With events taking place three hundred years after Knights of the Old Republic, we get to once again see how the Jedi and Sith wage their galaxy wide war.
Since it's only a single issue into the series we can't really determine how much anyone is truly going to enjoy it; however, the first issue did leave us hoping that transition from one scenario to another will become a lot smoother.
There was a lot of jumping from place to place and if you get distracted for a second you may forget where exactly you are. Too many characters were introduced in this single issue, and other than learning that the Sith will be Sith and Jedi Padawans still need to learn patience, we didn't really get to know any of them.
But keeping in mind that this series is also based off the upcoming video game from Bio-Ware and even has some novels due out as well, we can only hope all these things will help round out the story of the Old Republic.

Star Wars - Old Republic E3 Trailer

A lot of great looking games have been seen at E3 2009, but Star Wars Old Republic left us breathless.

This game, along with the upcoming novel "Death Troopers" (Oct. '09), could be taking the Star Wars universe down a more darker, adult themed path; and we can't wait.

Enjoy the trailer and let us know what you think. - GJ
