Movie Review: Starship Troopers 3 - Marauder

Franchise savior. This third installment not only brings back beloved trooper Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien), but director Paul Verhoeven as well. With the return of Paul Verhoeven we get a movie that has more blood, gore, and even better nudity.

The story is on the same track as previous installments; new bug super weapon, troopers stranded fighting for their lives, and a hero looking to save the day. Our hero, Johnny Rico, must use the new Marauder advanced weapons to save Sky Marshall Anoke (Stephen Hogan) and Capt. Lola Beck (Jolene Blalock) who were stranded on the planet OM-1.

For positives we like the controversy with the faith and religion side story; It's about time the Mobile Infantry had some sort of vehicle, seriously this is suppose to be a future war; And finally, we get Johnny Rico back, what more could you ask for?

Well there's Ace (Jake Busy) and Carmen (Denise Richards) but hey maybe they were waiting to see how things went so they could rejoin the fight in the fourth film.

The biggest complaint we've seen circling the Internet was how bad the computer graphics were. Really they weren't that bad and were even better than expected when you remember that this film is a B film, which means low budget.

Greatest thing about this film, if you haven't seen the second film, well that's okay because you don't have to for this installment to make sense. So our advice, if your not a hardcore science fiction fan, you may want to bypass film two and go straight for three.

Well see you on the battlefield trooper, and remember it's a good day to die!

Fringe - Reviewed

By now just about everyone has seen or heard something about the new FOX hit Fringe. Oh yea, we're calling it a hit here at the post.

A lot of people like to compare this show to the X-Files, and while that is a decent comparison, we ask that you keep an open mind and remember this is in no way an exact copy of the X-Files.

Yes there is the whole FBI, unexplained phenomenas similarities, but Fringe appears to be going a little bit more hard core science fiction. Fringe isn't just a show about alien abductions, and other creatures of the night, but offers concepts like reanimation, invisibility, and teleportation.

The biggest complaint circling the Internet about Fringe is that it's not scary enough. If you haven't actually seen the show then again keep in mind that this complaint is from those wanting this to be an exact copy of the X-Files.

As far as cast and characters, there weren't too many complaints. Some people were a little concerned about Joshua Jackson, which was a surprise to us, but most felt as the show progressed that this was a casting decision that could be lived with.

So for a final score we here at IMPERIAL POST give Fringe a 5 out of 5. Fringe airs on FOX on Tuesday Night at 9pm.
