Interesting Sci-Fi Movie Fact #0002

Stan Lee has had involvement with every Marvel film that has hit the big screen. He's either been a writer, producer or both for every film. Mr. Lee has also had a cameo appearance in almost every film, with the exception of Elektra.

Some people find Marvel films to be like Where's Waldo books, just instead of Waldo we're looking for Stan Lee. With more Marvel films to come, we hope the game of finding Stan continues.

Reviewed: The Middleman

Corny, cheesy, and low budget, are just some of the words we'd use to describe the new ABC Family show "THE MIDDLEMAN." Yet for some reason we here at the post find ourselves hoping that this show catches on and remains on the air for some time to come.

The story for the Middleman is one right out of the pages of a comic book; in fact a comic produced by Viper. To keep it simple, the Middleman (Matt Keeslar) is out to protect the world from different exotics (aliens, robots, monsters, etc.), while Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) is just out to find her place in the world.

To really get a feel for this show, you have to watch it. We've only seen two episodes, one involving a mob killing gorilla and another involving a Chinese Warrior who is an Earth elemental, and we hear the next episode involves a gang of masked wrestlers. This doesn't sound or make your average show, but the stories have been attention grabbing and quite unique in their own rights.

If your looking for a sci-fi, fantasy, comedy, drama, and action show, then the Middleman is right up your alley. Next episode airs on Monday June 30 at 10pm.

The Best Star Trek Series Is...

Your guess is a good as ours. Every person has their own opinion about which Trek series they feel is the best. For those of us stationed here at the post, we're kinda leaning towards the Next Generation series.

Don't get us wrong, we do enjoy several episodes from the different Trek series; well we have yet to find a single episode that we care for from the Enterprise series.

It just seems that the Next Generation series has better storylines and characters that we seem to be able to relate to. Plus Data keeps us laughing and we enjoy that.

So lets here your arguments for the best Trek series.

Sci-Fi Video Games + Big Screen = ?

For the most part video games that have been made into movies have done quite well. However it should be pointed out that though they have done well making money, hardly any of them have been worth the ticket price.

What makes a title a great video game is usually the player's interaction when helping to move the story along, but in a movie, we have no control over what takes place, everything is already 100% predetermined.

Sometimes a studio makes a game based movie well. Some examples of this are Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat 1, Super Mario Brothers, Resident Evil 1, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

Other times we wonder what the heck were they thinking. Movies that fall into this category include Mortal Kombat 2, Resident Evil 2 and 3, Hitman, and DOOM.

Feel free to disagree with the categories these movies were placed in, it's your right.

In the end, to the studios it doesn't matter if a movie is terrible or not, as long as it brings in money. So the trend of video games to the big screen is probably not going to see an end anytime soon, in fact there are several games either already in production, or being discussed as a possibility to be made.

Some of the bigger titles being discussed are Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Zelda, Max Payne, Prince of Persia, and Tekken. Hopefully one or more of these turn out to be worth the ticket.

Also we want to hear from you about what video games you want to see on the big screen. Personally us here at the post would love to see Star Ocean or another Final Fantasy film.

Interesting Sci-Fi Movie Fact #0001

Sticking with the Firefly / Serenity theme, here is the first of many interesting Sci-Fi movie facts that will be posted from time to time.

In the movie Serenity, during the Reaver chase scene, the stunt coordinator wanted to make the shot of Jayne having a harpoon shot through his leg look as realistic as possible. Well as luck would have it, Jayne's stunt double actually had a prosthetic leg, therefore they went ahead and shot the harpoon through the leg.

This has been an interesting Sci-Fi Movie fact.

Wash Reads His OWN Eulogy

This is one of the best interview sessions at a convention. Alan Tudyk, who played Wash in Firefly and Serenity, along with Summer Glau, River in Firefly and Serenity, are at DragonCon 2006 where a contest for who could write the best eulogy for Tudyk's character Wash was held. This is a video taken during that interview session.

Favorite Firefly / Serenity Character

If you've ever seen the television series Firefly or the hit movie Serenity then you know you have a tough choice to make.

If you're a shallow person where appearance is the only thing you worry about then your choice is almost impossible. I mean who can really make a choice between Kaylee, River, and Inara. Having all three is not an option, a great fantasy, but not an option.

Each character also renders an equal amount of humor, courage, and craziness throughout the series, so even trying to choose by personality is a tough situation.

But eventually everyone makes some kind of choice. My choice in this case is the one and only Jayne Cobb.

Jayne is the crew’s hired gun. He does everything for money, and when the price is right he may even turn against Mal and the rest of the crew. Jayne is not the brightest person in the universe, but he is one of the funniest. Most of the series memorable moments were provided by Jayne. He even has a song "Hero of Canton" which was wrote after a heist went sour. See even in failure he touches people's lives, which makes him great.

LISTEN TO HERO OF CANTON

Everyone should make a choice, so which character will you choose?

***Firefly can be seen on the Sci-Fi channel, check your local listings for dates and times***

Superman or Batman

This is an argument that will never see a conclusion; Superman or Batman, who is the better superhero.

SUPERMAN - an alien sent to Earth during the destruction of his home planet Krypton. He has some of the most wanted powers; speed, strength, laser eyes, the ability to see through anything, and oh yea, the ability to fly. As great as he sounds, his weakness is a little green rock known as Kryptonite, which will bring him to his knees and make him very vulnerable.

When he's not being Superman, he's Clark Kent, reporter for the Daily Planet. Just your average dork, who is in love with fellow reporter Lois Lane, who ironically just happens to be madly in love with Superman.

BATMAN - a boy who had both parents murdered while he was still very young. Batman has no special powers, and all of his abilities have human limitations. What makes him great is that he has all of these gadgets and top of the line technology that no one can compete with.

Batman's real identity is Bruce Wayne; self made millionaire. He lives alone in Gotham city, with the exception of his butler Alfred and a side kick from time to time, in an enormous mansion, which has a secret lair underneath. Wayne is the Donald Trump of the comic book universe.

My Conclusion - Superman may have all the natural powers, but Batman has worked hard to move up the chain, and that to me makes him a better superhero.

But you most likely have your own opinion of this topic, so lets here them, leave your comments, because we look forward to hearing what you think.

Marvel Studios To Take '09 Off

This may come as a surprise to many considering the success the studio has already accomplished so far this year. Iron Man will be a top ten film and the new Incredible Hulk movie is guaranteed to bury the last one forever.

SPOILER: For those that may not have heard or seen the new Hulk trailer, you can expect to see Tony Stark (Iron Man) make an appearance. You should also expect to see Nick Fury after the credits have rolled.

Though there are no movie releases for '09, Marvel will be hard at work all year long moving several movies into production. The studio will be working on producing a second Iron Man, separate movies for Thor, Wolverine, and Captain America, and then topping the run off with an Avengers movie; Which will bring all fore mentioned characters along with a few others, like Spider-Man and Storm (rumored).

Prior to all these movies hitting the big screen, there is a good chance that even more movies could already be slated to begin production. Another Spider-Man would be okay, but a fourth installment for X-Men would be even better.

Though some will be disappointed with Marvel's lack of releases in '09, we can still count on other studios filling in the gap. Remember we are expected to see a second Transformers movie and that long awaited Star Trek movie. So even minus Marvel, 2009 should still be a good year for the Science Fiction Genre.

Cleopatra 2525

This was a show that may not have been Oscar worthy, but it was an hour well spent. Cleopatra 2525 was a well written unique story presented by talented (and beautiful) actresses.

However, like most Science Fiction shows produced by FOX, it bit the dust before it could acquire the following to support its production. FOX has had this problem of constantly moving shows to different time slots and not allowing people to find the shows they want. Look at other would be greats, Dark Angel and Firefly.

If there was a possibility to see Cleopatra 2525 on TV again that would be phenomenal, but I wouldn't count on this. However, there is always YouTube.
